Stop the Tahr Cull - Sarah Dowie MP

The Green Party Conservation Minister from the Labour-led Government has announced a plan to cull tens of thousands of tahr, starting this weekend.

Eugenie Sage’s decision to kill these tahr without a proper consultation process with recreational hunters and the hunting industry is appalling.

This is unacceptable and a clear slap in the face for the hundreds of thousands of recreational hunters who make a difference on the ground for conservation.

Not only that, Eugenie Sage has also instructed DOC to cull bull tahr against specific advice from hunting representatives and expert tourism operators.

Once again this Government has arrogantly decided it knows best and the views of New Zealanders don’t matter.

This cull needs to be stopped.

Please add your name to my petition calling on the Government to listen to New Zealanders, to allow the tahr hunts to continue and to protect the birthright of New Zealanders to access our great outdoors.

You can sign the petition here

Kind regards
